Project description

As different as our cultures and traditions may be, there is at least one major concern that Norway, Germany and Estonia share. The environmental damage, caused by air/water pollution and by climate change, is having its effects on all our three countries. While specific environmental issues may differ from country to country, it is the general concern about our environment that can bring the young people from our school communities together and bridge the gap between our cultures. However, not only our shared worries offer the possibility to connect and communicate, we also see great potential for cultural exchange on the basis of our commonly shared visions of a cleaner and safer Europe/world as well as on the basis of our interest in the new and modern technologies used to reduce pollution and combat climate change.

Throughout the two years of the project we would like to enhance communication between our school communities as well as environmental awareness within these two dimensions. Apart from informing each other about specific and individual environmental problems, it will be of interest to find out which of the sources of alternative energies play an essential role in trying to replace former fossile fuels in each of the countries. Special attention will be drawn to the new and promising technological developments that are momentarily being pursued by and in the countries in general. In order to bring the students closer to the sciences involved in these new environmental technologies, we aim at providing them with alternative ways of learning about science and technologies during and between our Comenius visits through real life experiments, other innovative methods for learning sciences, visits to firms creating innovative products etc.
